The restrictions are lessening, the sun is shining, we are delighted to see more activity on the water, and we hope you are all remaining safe and well!

Clean Sport – Hay Fever

A note from UK Anti-Doping:

  • With pollen levels set to rise as the weather gets warmer, we are reminding athletes to check the anti-doping status of their hay fever medication prior to use. Here are some useful tips on checking medication:
  • Check the anti-doping status of the medication using Global Drug Reference Online(Global DRO) here.
  • Make sure that the search result contains the status of all ingredients listed on the label of the medication.
  • Keep a copy of the search result for your own records.
  • Annual changes to the Prohibited List come into effect each year on 1 January, so make sure to re-check all medication even if you checked it last year.
  • If the medication is prohibited, athletes should use our TUE Wizard to find out if they need a TUE and how to apply. They can do so here.

If you are unable to find the medication you are searching for on Global DRO, you should contact UKAD to find out its anti-doping status by sending an email to [email protected] .

Clean Sport Week 24 – 28 May

We will be joining UK Anti-Doping and many other sports governing bodies during Clean Sport Week, when the theme is ‘Ready for the Games’. To prepare for the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics, why not brush up on your anti-doping knowledge? Follow and take part in the campaign via #CleanSportWeek.

More information about Clean Sport in rowing and education is available from our Clean Sport webpage here.

Safeguarding – DBS Checks

With the current easing of lockdown restrictions, face-to-face ID document verification can now take place, as long as the verifier and those requiring their ID to be verified observe government guidelines. As there are still restrictions in place, if you do not feel comfortable in meeting face-to-face, or are unable to, you can still use the online verification method.

If you are going to go back to face-to-face verification, then please ensure you do the following;

  • Stay at least two meters apart at all time.
  • Where possible, complete the check outside.
  • Ensure you wash your hands with soap and water, before and after the check.
  • If an individual does not feel well or is showing symptoms of coronavirus, then carry out the check online.

When DBS instruct us that we are no longer able to carry out face-to-face ID checks, we will have to go back to previous systems, where people may have to mail in their ID documents. As soon as DBS issue any guidance, we will be sure to inform your Club Welfare Officer. For this reason, please ensure your records for Club Welfare Officers including names and contact details are up to date on ClubHub.
