Programme for the 2024 British Rowing Junior and Senior Club Championships

We are excited to announce the events on offer and the provisional programme for this new, combined competition

Drawing on the findings from extensive engagement with the rowing community last summer, the programme for the British Rowing Junior and Senior Club Championships has been designed to provide both an enhanced competition experience for juniors as well as an innovative programme of senior club events.

The senior events are at three different levels – Championship, Club, and Beginner – as well as Adaptive, to provide good racing opportunities for all club crews. It’s this that will make these a true Club Championships, in contrast with the previous high performance-focused National Championships.

The Championships will take place over four days, from Friday, 19 July through Monday, 22 July 2024 at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. Importantly, each event will be completed within one racing day, so competitors can choose how many days they want to race. All four days will include a mix of junior and senior events, as outlined in the provisional racing programme below. The fourth day has been positioned on a Monday to complement the school end of term.

With the combined Championships offering a much larger competition and giving a wide range of competitors and clubs the chance to come together in one place, we’re looking forward to putting on an exciting off-water programme. Watch this space for more details!

Junior programme

The Junior events offered will be the same as at recent British Rowing Junior Championships.

All events will now be completed within a single day, enabling competitors to enter multiple events.

J18 and J16 events will be raced over 2,000m. J15 and J14 events will be raced over 1,000m.

Senior programme

To ensure that racing is safe, fair and provides a high quality experience for competitors, only some boat classes will be offered for each level of racing. We hope that the programme can be expanded in future years.

The mixed Championship eights and mixed Club coxed fours have been included to give smaller clubs the opportunity to race in these boat types.

Championship and Club events will be raced over 2,000m. Beginner and Adaptive events will be raced over 1,000m.
