Rowers required for Indian and Atlantic Ocean record attempts

Ocean Rowing race organisers Woodvale Works Ocean Rowing Expedition Teams are searching for 22 experienced rowers for a series of record-breaking attempts in 2012.

The first, in January/February 2012, will see the company’s newest and most advanced boat Titan attempt an Atlantic crossing, with four places currently available.

The second, in April 2012, will see two boats attempt to break the record for rowing across the Indian Ocean, and 16 crew places are still up for grabs.

A Woodvale Works team set the record for the fastest Indian Ocean crossing in 2009, rowing 3600 miles from Geraldton, Western Australia, to Port Louis in Mauritius in 58 days, 15 hours, and eight minutes.

Both Indian Ocean boats for 2012 – Britannia III and Oyster Shack – have seen action in previous record attempts, with the latter holding the current record as the fastest row boat to reach Antigua on an Indian Ocean crossing, and both having previous crossed the Atlantic in less than 40 days.

The Woodvale Works team currently boasts more Ocean Rowing records than any other company in the world, and is searching for dedicated, experienced oarsmen and women to take on the Indian and Atlantic Oceans next year.
