Stratford celebrates Learn to Row success

Stratford upon Avon Boat Club is celebrating the successful conclusion of its latest Learn to Row course, with two groups graduating from the Explore Rowing-supported scheme.

The 137-year-old club delivered 15 hours of tuition on and off the water to the two groups of novice rowers, with Stratford’s top coaches working in conjunction with British Rowing source material to provide a fun, friendly introduction to rowing.

‘The recent course has been a great success thanks to all the volunteers at Stratford Boat Club and has introduced many to rowing,’ said Andy Roe, British Rowing’s West Midlands Regional Development Coach. ‘We hope that they will continue rowing either on a recreational or even competitive basis.

‘Based on the success of this course, British Rowing West Midlands will be running a ‘taster day’ in the early winter and another course at Stratford in early 2012.’

More and more Learn to Row courses will be available across the country as the London 2012 Olympic Games draw nearer, with British Rowing’s Row for Gold initiative paving the way for the whole country to get involved in rowing.
