Juniors compete in Birmingham Rowability event
On March 22nd, Birmingham was a winter wonderland covered in snow. Due to schools being closed, the usual 90 children from Special Educational Needs Schools around Birmingham dwindled to 46 taking part in the BSNSA (Birmingham Special Needs Sports Association) indoor rowing competition at Calthorpe Specialist Sports College.
Familiar faces from Selly Oak, Victoria, Baskerville and Calthorpe took part, the day was a huge success, with children and teachers all enjoying themselves.
This fully inclusive event catered for pupils with a range of disabilities in years 7-13 providing both an individual race dependant on their ability not disability and a team relay over 4 minutes.

2.00min – Joe mccrossan 470metres
2.00min – Tyler Phillips 520metres
2.30 – Louis young – 676metres
2.30 – Daniel long – 682metres
The event was organised by Maddy Millichap (Rowability Project Officer) and Thalat Mahmood (Sports Co-ordinator, Birmingham). Assistance, help and encouragement was provided by pupils and staff from the schools taking part.
BSNSA were very grateful to Maddy for all her help and support, not only provided on the day but also by providing schools with specialist coaching prior to the event, and everyone looks forward to welcoming her at the next event.
