How to tell us if you’ve done safeguarding training

All coaches who work with children and other people who supervise children as part of their role in rowing are required to complete or maintain safeguarding training every three years

Full details of the safeguarding training requirements are available in Section 6 of British Rowing’s Safeguarding Handbook 1.

The course recommended by the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit is UK Coaching’s ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ course, which is tutor-led, delivered by online classroom and takes approximately three hours.

On completion of the course you receive an electronic certificate.

To gain the safeguarding training credential in your British Rowing Membership Profile and to help us build up a clear picture of which British Rowing members have completed this safeguarding training, please upload the electronic certificate to your Membership Profile.

How to upload your certificate

  1. Log in to the British Rowing membership portal
  2. Click on ‘My Profile’
  3. Click the ‘Credentials’ tab and select ‘Add Credentials’
  4. Select ‘Safeguarding Children and Young People’ from the menu
  5. Enter the start date, course provider and upload your electronic certificate
  6. Select ‘Save’ in the to-right corner.

The new credential will sit as ‘pending approval’ prior to the Safeguarding and Integrity team approving it.
