British Rowing launches the Coaching Stream

The Coaching Stream is an interactive toolkit that will enable coaches to learn, develop and widen their support network

The Coaching Stream platform implements our new vision for coach development, announced last September, which moves from learning simply being about ‘going on a course’, to encouraging a much broader approach under the three broad areas of Connect, Guide, and Discover.

The Coaching Stream draws together the wealth of coach development resources available in a single place. This means that everyone can access the materials and networks they need at any stage of their growth. These will enable them to connect with the right people to talk to, discover content from some of our partner organisations, and be guided through some of our formal learning opportunities.

British Rowing’s Chief Executive Officer Alastair Marks said: “The launch of the Coaching Stream is an important step in demonstrating how much we value, and want to prioritise the development of great coaching. It shows how many opportunities are available on the coach development pathway, and we hope it will support everyone pursuing coaching as either a career or a volunteer.”

The development of the Coaching Stream has been a collaboration across the whole of British Rowing, including the National Coaching Committee, Olympic Pathway staff, and those involved with community coaches at club level. It has allowed us to bring together all of the exciting opportunities available for coaches to create great experiences for rowers, and make becoming a coach more accessible to all.

Sarah Harris, Head of Learning, Education and Development said: “Quality coaching is fundamental to the success of our sport at every level. The Coaching Stream aims to ensure coaches are fully aware of the diverse range of development opportunities available to them.”

Contribute to the Coaching Stream

The Coaching Stream has been designed to evolve in line with wider trends in coaching. With this in mind, we encourage coaches to collaborate and share anything they think we should promote as a great coach development opportunity. One way to do this will be within the Coaching Stream’s Online Library, where we invite new submissions of relevant papers or research to help further the breadth and depth of knowledge within the coaching community.

If you would like to submit any content for consideration for inclusion within the Coaching Stream, please email [email protected].
