This year’s British Rowing Virtual Championships will be sponsored by asensei, the connected coaching app for indoor rowing. As part of the sponsorship, the online event, taking place on 11 September, will be known as the asensei British Rowing Virtual Championships.

This sponsorship builds on the successful and ongoing partnership between asensei and British Rowing, which began in November 2019 and has seen asensei offering their world-class coaching to British Rowing members and indoor subscribers.

Kenny Baillie, British Rowing Director of Partnerships and Communications, was delighted to welcome asensei to the event: “Indoor rowing is one of the most accessible sports out there and the Virtual Championships format allows us to link up rowers across the globe. It makes complete sense to be partnering with a world-leading indoor rowing and fitness brand like asensei which specialises in providing a connected rowing experience for this event.”

“Individuals of all levels who row with asensei tell us how engaged and beneficial their at-home practice is. They also enjoy how much they can structure a training plan with a goal and reward at the end,” says asensei CEO, Steven Webster. “By letting people learn in their own homes, asensei replaces intimidation and uncertainty with engaging and educational coaching that nudges everyone towards their next goal. The logical next step for us was to help people enter an indoor competition from the comfort of their home, being led through training at their own pace, and surprising themselves with their accomplishment.”

The asensei British Rowing Virtual Championships will see hundreds of competitors from around the world compete on the indoor rowing machine from the comfort of their own home, gym or rowing club. Building on last year’s racing across 2000m and 500m distances and adaptive rowing categories, this year will see the addition of two new race formats: the 100m Super Sprint and 30-minute Challenge Row.

Entries are open for the event now and competitors wanting support preparing for the competition are able to access world-class coaching and training plans  via the asensei app as well as training plans through British Rowing Plus.
