The app, which has been developed by a three man start-up technology company in Colorado (USA), has been designed to make working out on an indoor rowing machine more interactive and exciting. Users can connect a Concept2 indoor rowing machine to the app to access special features including:

  • racing others over the internet through a challenge system, anywhere in the world;
  • the ability to build and share custom rowing machine workouts;
  • follow set workout programmes.

British Rowing will be powering LiveRowing by providing featured workouts that will help people get the most out of the indoor rowing machine when using the LiveRowing app.

Rich Stock, Head of Commercial at British Rowing commented on the partnership: “Indoor rowing presents a huge opportunity for our sport to grow participants and increase our fan base. Working with LiveRowing will help us to showcase indoor rowing to a broader health and fitness market powered by the world class coaching and training expertise that exists in the UK and within British Rowing.”

Nick Sheedy, Founder of LiveRowing added: “Today’s announcement with British Rowing is a solid step in our journey to bring indoor rowing to the masses. This partnership is a win for LiveRowing but more importantly a win for LiveRowing users. This joint venture will be directed toward creating pre-programmed workouts, training programmes and content for the indoor rowing community. We are honored to call British Rowing a partner.”

“LiveRowing comes off the back of a number of other new partnerships for British Rowing, including Oakley Sunglasses which our rowers are wearing out in Rio. We are very active in seeking and securing new commercial partnerships for the benefit of our sport and will continue to do so over the coming months,” added Rich.

The LiveRowing app is available to download on Apple.
