Alton Autumn Head – “Great Water, Great Racing”

Located in the Suffolk Countryside, Alton Water plays host to the third Alton Autumn Head race on 22nd November. Placed just off the A12 South of Ipswich, Alton Rowing Club welcomes crews to the 3200 metre course on still water. With events for all classes of boats and age ranges and standards including Masters Novice events, there is something for everyone. Two divisions at 11.00 am and 2.00 pm will allow crews two bites of the cherry, with Quart tankards on offer to the winners.

Clubs entering previous events have provided positive feedback on the friendly and welcoming officials and umpires, the uncongested boating arrangements and the stunning location – all of which has made this an especially enjoyable event for rowers who have never raced before or who are lacking a little in experience.

Club Chairman, Peter Gwizdala, commented: “This is a brilliant place to row and an even better place to race. We’ve got all the facilities of a much larger well-established club, whilst still maintaining that welcome that is so traditionally Suffolk.”

Entries for this year’s Alton Autumn Head are currently open via BROE, and are set to close on 16th November. For further details, email [email protected] or call 07977 059022.
