Henley Women’s Regatta turns 25
Join the celebrations this weekend as Henley Women’s Regatta celebrates its 25th anniversary!
Henley Women’s Regatta has come a long way since its inception in 1988 – reflecting the meteoric rise of domestic women’s rowing.
Born after the failed attempt to introduce women’s races to Henley Royal Regatta in the early 1980s, HWR has grown to become one of the highlights of the regatta season for women rowers across the globe.
This year’s 25th anniversary HWR promises to be an unmissable festival of women’s rowing, with a series of innovations including: medal and trophy presentations from Sir Steve Redgrave (who will also be broadcasting from the event alongside John Inverdale for the BBC), the launch of HWR winners’ club Victrix, and special commemorative medals, and memorabilia.
Entry to HWR is free for spectators and, with an outstanding array of domestic and international club crews set to do battle on the Thames, this weekend’s racing is not to be missed.

The event began with a series of qualifying races at 09:30 this morning (Friday 15th June), and ends with the finals between 14:00 and 17:00 on Sunday 17th.
