Swansea take on Cardiff in the Welsh Boat Race

On Saturday 28th April, Swansea University Rowing Club will take on rivals Cardiff University Rowing Club in the seventh annual Welsh Boat Race, vying for the title of Welsh Varsity Boat Race Champions.

Both universities have top class crews in all categories this year and the race on the River Taff is looking like one that should not be missed, so make sure you are on the bank supporting your university.

The day will see four races beginning with the novice women and men’s races, followed by the senior women first VIII’s and culminates with the showpiece event between the Swansea University RC and Cardiff University RC senior men’s first VIII’s.

This year’s Boat Race is the official opening to the Welsh Varsity games which takes place the following week on 2nd May.  The event finishes with the Varsity Rugby match in the Millennium Stadium.

Past competition between the two clubs has always been fierce and this year looks to be no different. With both clubs training hard, the Welsh Boat Race promises to be a day of exciting racing.
