Draw revealed for 2012 JIRR

The draw has been revealed for the 2012 Junior Inter-Regional Regatta (JIRR), in which juniors from the 11 British Rowing regions will go head to head at the National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierrepont.

Competitors will battle it out in the colours of their respective British Rowing regions – with Thames split into Thames Upper and Thames Lower – in J14, J15, and J16 categories in singles, doubles, quads, fours and octuples.

The racing will be fast and furious over 1500m, with each crew aiming to win valuable points towards their region’s total.

At the end of the event, each region’s points will be added up to determine the Overall Regional Champion, Overall Women’s Regional Champion, and Overall Men’s Regional Champion.

Upper Thames will be the region to beat at the 2012 edition of the JIRR, having claimed both the overall championship and men’s title in 2011 (the latter jointly with Lower Thames).

In the women’s events, the North West region will be in the spotlight, having claimed the overall women’s crown last year.
