Thames triumph in 72nd WEHoRR

Thames RC triumphed in the 72nd Women’s Eights Head of the River Race on Saturday, with a winning margin of more than six seconds in the provisional race results.

The victorious crew finished the four-and-a-quarter-mile Championship Course in 20 minutes and 10.92 seconds, ahead of crews from RC Belvoir Zurich and Imperial College/Sport Imperial who finished second and third respectively.

Reading University started the race from first position, and their time of 20:30.66 was good enough to claim the University pennant and seventh overall.

Winners will be officially confirmed on Wednesday, before a prize-giving ceremony at Thames Rowing Club on Thursday 15th March.

Over 2000 women took part in the 2012 WEhoRR, in 287 crews.
