Major events sign up for Row for Gold

A sensational summer of Regattas is fast approaching, and a host of events have now signed up to Row for Gold – our initiative to encourage everyone to have a go at rowing this year.

The Row for Gold banner will be flying high in May, when the Regatta season gets underway.

Rowers of all ages are set to take part, with the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta and British Rowing Masters Championships currently among the events to have signed up to Row for Gold.

The BUCS Regatta will see students from 65 universities across the UK travel to the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham, for a fierce three days of racing, while the cream of the UK’s Masters rowers are also set to attend the same venue three weeks later for the Masters Championships.

The Row for Gold Regatta season then looks set to gather pace through June and July, with events including the Marlow, Henley Town & Visitor, and Henley Women’s Regattas all signing up to fly the Row for Gold flag. Other Regattas to have signed up to Row for Gold include Barnes & Mortlake, Molesey, Milton Keynes, and Queen Elizabeth High School RC‘s Matt_Wells Celebration Regatta.

The summer will also see a range of Learn to Row courses, taster sessions, and open days – reaching out to a new audience in the year that GB rowing takes centre stage.

Tideway Scullers and Bedford RC are among the earlybirds signing up to deliver ‘Row for Gold’ Learn to Row courses, helping to inspire everyone to have a go at one of the country’s leading sports.
