An oarsome year for Explore Rowing

It’s been another fantastic year for Explore Rowing – British Rowing’s flagship programme to increase participation in rowing across the UK.

There are now over 100 Explore Rowing-affiliated centres across the country, and the initiative has introduced more than 1000 new rowers to the sport.

2011 has seen the launch of several iconic Explore Rowing events, including the Coastal Challenge, the Great Tyne Row, and the Tour de Thames.

The social rowing challenges formed part of the Summer Series, which was enjoyed by rowers of all ages and abilities and is sure to become a fixture on the rowing calendar.

This year has also seen the historic agreement between Scottish Rowing and Explore Rowing to take the programme to rowing clubs in Scotland, ensuring that fun and social rowing will continue to grow north and south of the border.

With the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, Explore Rowing and the Row for Gold initiatives are fully-primed to help clubs capitalise on an unparalleled demand for rowing.

The new and improved www.explorerowing.org now has even more content to help your club reach a new audience of potential rowers, and provides rowers of all ages and experience the opportunity to share their love of rowing with the world.
