Boat Identification
Don’t let your club’s crews risk disqualification at a Regatta or Head because their boats are not properly identified. Remember, it is a rule of British Rowing that all boats being used for racing, training and recreation must be identifiable by their three letter club code together with the three digit fleet number. More information about the codes from Section L, Rules of British Rowing.
Port and Starboard
Dan Smith, Chairman of the National Umpires Commission explains why British Rowing made the decision to promote the use of ‘port and ‘starboard’ in the next issue of Rowing & Regatta – and why this can help to promote safety for crews on the water. Several different options were discussed, but it was felt that none were as effective as port and starboard as they are understood by all other water users and are an international standard.
Row for Gold
British Rowing’s Row for Gold programme in 2012 is all about helping our clubs and members to feel a part of the London 2012 experience. If your club has an idea for a fun activity, taster sessions, a fund-raising row or you’d like to offer ‘Rower Reunion’ races at your local regatta to reunite old crews, fill in our online form to register your interest and see how British Rowing can support your event.
