Poznan gearing up for 2011 World Rowing Masters Regatta

The World Rowing Masters gets underway on Thursday, with masters oarsmen and women from around the world converging on the Lake Malta Regatta Course in Poznan, Poland.

Racing concludes on Sunday, with a variety of mixed races being contested across the weekend.

The event traditionally features athletes aged between 27 and 100, with rowers well into their 80s a regularly featuring in the Masters Regatta.

The Lake Malta Regatta Course is one of the most modern rowing venues in the world, and has hosted a host of the world’s highest profile water sports events.

The course staged the World Rowing Championships in 2009, the World Canoeing Championships in 2010, and regularly plays host to World Cup rowing. 

Live streaming of the 2011 World Rowing Masters will be available online, from Thursday.
