British Rowing announces Row for Gold

Row for Gold is British Rowing’s flagship programme to keep rowing firmly in the public consciousness before, during, and after the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Next summer will bring about an unprecedented interest in British sport, and there will be no better time to reach out to a new audience of potential sportsmen and women across the UK.

The primary aim of Row for Gold is to build a tangible link between grassroots rowing and London 2012 – reflecting the invaluable position that club rowing has in the development of Olympic-standard athletes.

With this in mind, one of the key focuses of the Row for Gold programme is to bring together regattas, rowing challenges, fund-raisers and other events in summer 2012 under the Row for Gold banner – providing taster sessions for interested newcomers and other opportunities to find out more about rowing.

Row for Gold regattas will benefit from a dedicated Row for Gold area on www.britishrowing.org, together with widespread exposure across British Rowing’s established online media outlets.

There will also be an extensive selection of Row for Gold marketing materials, which each Row for Gold registered club or event will receive in the form of a starter pack, with more materials available to download.

We firmly believe that our wonderful sport can reach an entirely new audience after London 2012, which would be a fitting legacy for one of the greatest sporting spectacles that the UK has ever seen.

Row for Gold is the perfect way to ensure that this happens, but we need your help to make sure that everyone can feel a part of the Olympic rowing experience next year.
