Ross juniors finish third at Stourport

Ross juniors, Stourport Regatta

Juniors from Ross Rowing Club joined many of their senior club mates to compete in the Stourport Regatta over the weekend.

A small group of Ross juniors competed over the longer course of 1100m on Saturday – putting on a determed display despite not winning any of their events.

On Sunday, the junior academy turned out in force and there were excellent wins for Gabby Howell in the women’s J11 single scull event, Pippa England in the WJ13 single scull (beating her club mate Skye Jenkins in the final), Johan Lai in the J14 single scull event and also in the J14 double sculls event with Henry Jones, and finally Effie Hiram, Molly Phillips, Caitlin Scott, Catrin Morris and cox Jess Crossman won the women’s J15 coxed quad event.

“This was a very busy weekend for our juniors, and they all performed really well,” said Junior Captain Mark Scott. “We are delighted for those who won, but very proud of every single one of our squad”.

Ross finished third overall in the juniors, behind City of Bristol and Burton Leander.

The club’s senior squad also finished third in the provisional Victor Ludorum, with Burton Leander again taking second place and Gloucester finishing on top.
