Countdown to WRJC 2011

It’s all systems go at Dorney Lake, as the World Rowing Junior Championships officially get underway this evening.

Olympic gold medallist and WRJC chairman Ben Hunt-Davis and FISA treasurer Mike Williams will both be on hand to officially welcome athletes from 48 nations at tonight’s opening ceremony, ahead of the opening heats of the Championships on Wednesday.

This evening’s ceremony will take place at 7.30pm at Royal Holloway College – home of the competing junior athletes and future accommodation for participants in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The opening heats of the 2011 WRJC begin at 5pm on Wednesday with the Junior Men’s Coxless Fours, followed by the Junior Women’s Coxless Quads at 5.18pm.

Entry to the opening day will be free for spectators, with six heats due to be contested.
