Seven-win performance for GB Rowing Team in Amsterdam
Racing in Amsterdam in lieu of the world cup in Hamburg a week ago, lightweights Goodsell and Hosking turned heads by stepping up into the open-weight women’s double scull class to win a tight race from strong Canadian and Dutch opposition to take victory in 7:07.50 on the opening day of the two-part “Holland Beker” or Amsterdam International Regatta.
Stanning and Glover were also winners for GB in the women’s pair in a performance described as “exceptional” by GB Rowing Team Performance Director, David Tanner.
“We’v had a decent day in Amsterdam”, he said. “The full Canadian Olympic team were there and some Australians as well as the Dutch. So we’ve had some good racing”.
Adam Freeman Pask continues to show his mettle at international level by winning the lightweight men’s single in a time of 7:10.26 – a full five seconds ahead of his nearest rival from Denmark.
The second GB lightweight women’s double scull combination were also winners and Kat Copeland, by taking victory in the U23 lightweight women’s single scull, was one of two U23 wins today alongside the GB lightweight U23 men’s doubles scull.
