GB Rowing Team gets a little extra help

The GB Rowing Team is receiving additional support as it prepares for the first World Cup of the season in Munich later this week (May 26-29). The team, which is sponsored by Siemens and funded by the Lottery, has recently signed an agreement with Cereal Partners UK to be supplied with Nestlé whole grain breakfast cereals to its training base at Caversham.

The range of Nestlé breakfast cereals supplied will include Shredded Wheat, Shreddies, Cheerios and Oats & More all of which have the whole grain guarantee and provide a good source of fibre.

The GB Rowing Team’s International Manager David Tanner commented:  “Food plays a big part in a rower’s training and breakfast is a very important meal to give them a great start to the day. The range and quality of Nestlé cereals make them a popular choice with the rowers.  Cereal Partners UK kindly supplied the team with Nestlé cereals while we were in New Zealand for last year’s World Rowing Championships and we are delighted that the company has agreed to supply the team on a regular basis and provide the rowers with a healthier breakfast choice of tasty whole grain cereals.”

“We are delighted to be able to support the GB Rowing Team,” said Phil Ruebotham, Managing Director, Cereal Partners UK & Ireland. “We recognise the athletes’ requirements for great tasting healthy breakfasts as part of their diet, as they train to be at the peak of their physical performance. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and a great way for these high performing athletes to start their days. Nestlé cereals wish the GB Rowing Team all the best as they prepare for this season’s World Cup events, and build up to the World Championships later in the year”.
