Caledonian Crossing Challenge

On the 11th August, 62 intrepid rowers and support team from Royal Chester Rowing Club will start the 2 day, 55 mile challenge to row from Fort William to Inverness through the Caledonian Canal and across Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. The Challenge ends with the crews racing in a range of events at Inverness Regatta on the 13th.
 
This crossing will see the crews facing the beautiful still conditions of the canal sections compared with the rough and choppy waters of Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and the infamous Loch Ness. The crews can expect to be rowing for over 8 hours a day, with the flotilla of 8 person and 4 person boats made up of mixed ability, ages and genders from across the clubs’ membership.
 
The Royal Chester Rowing Club Caledonian Crossing Challenge is in aid of the following charities: the RNLI, the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Royal Chester Trust.
