Round 1 applications for FreeSport 2011 are open until Friday 20 May with grants of up to £1,500 available to successful applicants.

FreeSport provides free sporting opportunities to Londoners of all ages and abilities to encourage greater participation in sport and physical activity in the build up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

A key focus of the 2011 programme is to provide 6+ hours of coaching to participants to provide a better quality of experience and encourage ongoing participation in sport.

FreeSport comes under the PlaySport London programme, as part of the Mayor’s Plan ‘A Sporting Future for London’ helping organisations all over London deliver a grass-roots sporting legacy for London.

Funding available

Sports clubs and organisations, youth and community groups can apply for grants of up to £1,500 and to receive extra information and marketing materials to make their activities even more successful. Funding is available for a variety of sports and physical activities.
