The Gold Challenge

‘Choose your challenge, choose your cause’.  That is the call to arms from ‘The Gold Challenge’, an initiative supported by Sport England, the British Olympic Association and ParalympicsGB that is offering everyone the opportunity to feel involved with the excitement of London 2012.

Individuals across the country are being encouraged to take on multiple Olympic and Paralympic sports and raise money for charity.  Here are some of the ways that you as an individual, or your rowing club, can get involved.

Find out more about how you and your crew could complete a rowing challenge on ‘The Gold Challenge’ website

If your rowing club would like to welcome participants you can read how to become listed as ‘Gold Challenge Friendly’ on British Rowing’s Clubfinder site here (pdf)

You’re not a rower?  You can still take part because you don’t have to have any previous experience of rowing to rise to this challenge.  Natalie Ellis who describes herself as ‘not a naturally sporty person…  usually always stuck in goal’ gave rowing a go in February and surprised herself by enjoying the whole experience.  Read her blog here.

The Gold Challenge hopes that more than 200,000 will take part, raising over £20 million for charity and increasing the demand for grassroots sport.
