2011 Henley Boat Races – Sunday 27 March

What a day! Beautiful weather, ideal racing conditions and the supporters lined the bank from start to finish.

Prior to the main races Cambridge took both the Intercollegiate races, Pembroke narrowly beating Magdalen in the women’s race and Gonville & Caius the men’s equivalent with a little more ease.

The Newton Women’s Boat Race turned out to be a real battle throughout, eventually won by Oxford, with Natalie Redgrave at 4, by just a length, however the Blondie v Osiris race resulted in disqualification for the latter after a clash of blades approaching the half way point.

Cambridge took the lightweight women’s race by clear water and Oxford the men’s by just a canvas.
