City of Bristol Head turns adaptive

The City of Bristol head was held on the 20th February 2011 and included adaptive events for the first time into their programme, athletes raced over a 1300 meter course on Bristol’s Floating Harbour, through the city centre of Bristol, rowing past the groundbreaking SS Great Britain and the Mathew and Bristol’s Amphitheatre.

Seven athletes from Cotswold Rowing Club, Southampton Coalporters Rowing Club, Evesham Rowing Club, Stratford upon Avon Boat Club and Guildford Rowing Club competed in TA (trunk and arms) and LTA (leg, trunk and arms) events.

Anthony Verey from Cotswold Rowing Club won the LTA M 1x with a time of 6.37, Hilary Birkinshaw from Guildford Rowing Club won the TA W 1x event with a time of 7.49. Time only events were also held in the LTA W 1x and  LTA M 2x category.
The boats used at the event were Swift and Wintech adaptive /recreational singles and doubles from Worcester Rowing Club and Evesham Rowing Club.
