Trial Eights Shake and Nurture win the day

Boat Race trials

Oxford and Cambridge were out on the Tideway in their Trial Eights today, 8th December 2010, and enjoyed surprisingly good conditions given the recent icy weather.

‘Shake’ had taken the lead over their fellow Cambridge crew ‘Bake’ as they passed under the Hammersmith Bridge and extended the lead in the second half of the race for a winning margin of 4 lengths.

For Oxford, ‘Nurture’ took victory by just under a length from ‘Nature’, despite trailing by half a boat length at the half way mark.

The 157th Boat Race, sponsored by Xchanging, will take place at 17:00 on Saturday 26th March and screened live on BBC 1 within a two-hour programme. The 2010 race was won by Cambridge by 1⅓ lengths and televised in more than 200 countries around the world. Cambridge lead Oxford by 80 wins to 75.
