Redgrave’s Crew Complete Epic Cycle

The Redgrave crew completed their epic cycle ride across America on Saturday in 7 days, 3 hours and 42 mins with an average speed of 17.4 mph, managing to achieve their original objective to complete the race in under eight days, despite the bad accident Sir Steve Redgrave had on Friday.

“Flying down a highway” and with only 300 miles to go, Sir Steve went over the handlebars, landing face first and sustaining two broken ribs, a broken cheek bone and wrist.

You can read Sir Steve’s own version of events at www.redgravecrew.com  “Of all the things that possibly could have stopped me – tiredness, fatigue, diabetes, a simple blow out on the front wheel of a bike going around a corner can cause such pain.”

There is still time to support the team’s amazing effort which will help bring the benefits of sport to disadvantaged young people and their communities  www.justgiving.com/redgraveraceacrossamerica

Congratulations to the team and wishing Sir Steve a speedy recovery from all at British Rowing.
