Sir Matthew Pinsent to Carry the Winter Olympics Torch Today

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay is entering its final laps of Canada after its marathon adventure through every province and territory. The Opening Ceremony for the 2010 Winter Games is just seven days away. The remaining two of the 14 international torchbearers—chosen by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) in collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC)—are chomping at the bit for their turn with the Olympic Flame.

First to go today (Feb. 5) is the four-time Olympic gold medal-winning rower Matthew Pinsent who will be carrying the Olympic Flame through Whistler, British Columbia.  On 11 February, Matt Lauer from NBC’s Today Show will take to the streets of Burnaby, BC.
