Atlantic Rowing Race 2009

The Atlantic Rowing Race 2009 has finally begun.

After delays from bad weather, a fleet of 30 boats started the epic voyage of 2,548 nautical mile race from La Gomera, Tenerife to Antigua earlier today.

Britannia III, the record attempting boat and crew, was the first to leave La Gomera this
morning at 0500 hrs and is now on her voyage across the atlantic. David Hosking (father of GB Rowing Team athlete, Sophie Hosking) is amongst the 12-man strong crew). To
break the current record of 33 days and 7 hours she needs to arrive in
English Harbour, Antigua by 1300 hours on Saturday the 6 February.
