Sad news – Harry Harvey

It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Harry Harvey, aged 80 years.
For many years Harry had been a valued member of the ARA Council, he served as Regional Chairman East Midlands and was Chairman of the ARA Veterans’ Commission for more than twenty years.

Harry had a deep affection for veteran rowing and had great satisfaction from helping it develop and grow.  He also served for many years as the Chairman of the National Veteran Championships, an event that he felt strongly was at the heart of the success of veteran rowing. In the 1980’s he was responsible for devising a system of handicapping to compensate for the effect of age when crews of different ages raced together.

We send our sympathy to his wife Barbara and daughter Fiona Dennis.
