Nottingham Rowing Club at the National Rowing Championships

The National Rowing Championships were held over three days on a blustery multi-lane course at Holme Pierrepont.

Nottingham Rowing Club celebrated their second full year by winning six medals and equaling last years tally.

The Club’s scullers were very much in evidence. Linsay Morton won silver in the Women’s Sculls. Dave Marshall took silver in the Men’s Sculls and in doing so gained revenge over local rival Graham Coleman from Notts & Union RC who beat him at Henley in the Diamond Sculls. Catherine Lineker went one better and won gold in the Women’s U23 event.

Tom Savage from Djanogly City Academy and Dominic Harrison from Colonel Frank Seely School Calverton won silver in the J14 double Sculls. Vicky Bramley (Bilborough College) and Emma Lindley (Carlton-le-Willows School) took bronze in the J18 double sculls.

17 year old Anna Lavelle from Bilborough College teamed up with three lightweight women from the Club and won bronze in the lightweight coxless fours underlining the Club policy of mixing young talent with experience.

The final race of the day saw the Men’s Éight row down the Army only to lose the bronze by a whisker.

‘I shall be meeting coaches and athletes over the next few days in preparation for next year’ said Captain Mark Cooke, ‘We have made good progress this year and we need to build on it.’
