Across the line: A grand day out for Cambridge at Met Regatta
Your racing round up for all of the action across the UK and Europe

We’re Across The Line! Join us to look back on a thrilling couple of days of racing from across the UK and Europe.
Metropolitan Regatta puts on show at Dorney

After a sensational win on the Championship course back in March, the light blue men of Cambridge University have taken the regatta season by storm. Bolstered by Olympic champion Tom Ford in the stroke seat, they finished four seconds clear of Leander in a final that also saw London Rowing Club get one up on their local rivals Thames.
Speaking of Thames, their women’s squad had a sensational regatta winning championship eights on both days with their ‘B’ boat placing second on Saturday as well. Speaking of Sunday, Olympic Champion Imogen Grant took to the waters and won a highly competitive women’s champ single field. Reading’s Meg Knight placed second in a race that also contained Bath’s Ella Fullman and Dart Totnes’ Laura Macro.
After an incredible performance at the National Schools’ Regatta, The Windsor Boys’ School have managed to take their sculling to the next level. After making the A final of championship quads on Saturday they finished fourth, beating the top crew from Reading University who won BUCS Regatta four weeks ago.
On the topic of quads, the race for the Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup is shaping up nicely. Wycliffe toppled Tideway Scullers by three seconds this weekend, overturning the result from Nat Schools.
As has already been eluded to, Met Regatta is the perfect testing ground for combinations ahead of Henley Royal Regatta. Perhaps we see the framework of a strong contender for the Visitors Challenge Cup after Oxford University won championship coxless fours with a crew containing Italian Olympian Nico Kohl. On the student side of things, The University of London could be putting themselves in the driving seat for the Prince Albert after beating Oxford Brookes, Edinburgh, Bristol, and Newcastle in Saturday’s A Final of open champ coxed fours.
