The Opportunity

This is a very exciting time for the sport of rowing as we develop this competition – both on and off the water – and we are looking for a team of organised, passionate and creative individuals to be part of the journey. You might already have experience of organising rowing competitions, but this is also an ideal opportunity for anyone who would like to gain knowledge of event management and learn about what goes on behind the scenes at a major national rowing event.

The OC will meet roughly monthly from January to the event in July and the group will be key to the success of delivering the event.

We have a number of roles available, which will have varying time commitments:

  • Deputy OC Chair
  • Race Committee Chair (Multi-Lane Umpire Qualification Required)
  • Event Secretary
  • Entries Secretary
  • Volunteer Manager
  • Sustainability Lead
  • Welfare Advisor.

For those who don’t have the time to commit to being on the OC, we will be looking for a huge army of volunteers for the event days; from umpires and launch drivers, to commentators and helpers for medal presentations. We’ll put out a formal call for volunteers next year, but if you’d like to put your name on the list now, please email [email protected].

Expenses

Although this is a voluntary role, reasonable expenses will be paid as per the British Rowing expenses policy, and accommodation will be provided during the event.

How to apply

To express an interest in joining, please complete this form by Friday, 24 November 2023.

If you would like any further information on the roles, please contact [email protected] in the first instance.
