The Level 4 Advanced Coach Certificate is British Rowing’s top-level rowing coaching qualification. It’s a two-year, part-time course.

Who is it for?

Designed for coaches who want to provide their athletes with the very best experience, it includes a postgraduate diploma course in Professional Sports Coaching Practice from the University of Gloucester.

“The Level 4 has… increased my awareness of my own coaching practices and what needs to be changed.” Richard Chambers, 2023 Level 4 Coaching Certificate graduate

Level 4 coaches are visionary and knowledgeable decision-makers who display exceptional skills, behaviours and the highest professional and ethical standards. They advance the development of themselves and others, lead cutting-edge programmes or a specialist part of an existing programme, and make a positive impact on sport performance and behaviour.

The course is suitable for rowing coaches in all situations, whether sliding seat or fixed seat, flat water or coastal, and working with athletes of all types from participation to high performance.

If you already hold British Rowing’s Level 3 Coaching Certificate or a recognised equivalent qualification, the Level 4 course could be the ideal next step for you.
