The APPRG was set up in 2006 to help support the sport of rowing both within Parliament and outside, recognising the value that the sport brings to communities. The Group comprises Members of both Houses of Parliament and non-Parliamentary Associate Members. It meets regularly when Parliament is sitting to raise, discuss and resolve issues important to rowing.

Celebrating its tenth year, the Group has extended an invitation to all rowers, boat clubs and rowing supporters to join and play a role in supporting the sport and challenging issues it faces. The Group has also called on rowers to encourage their local MP to join, and strengthen the sport’s voice in Parliament.

The Group holds an annual Parliamentary Boat Race, which includes a race between the House of Lords and the House of Commons to raise funds for charity, and will operate between public activities to encourage more people to get into rowing.

The next meeting of the Group is taking place on 18 July in Parliament. Associate Members are welcome to attend.

To join as an Associate Member, simply visit the join page here. There is an annual subscription and anyone joining must agree to the Group’s constitution.
