YPP holds successful first Forum

British Rowing’s Young Persons’ Panel held its inaugural Forum earlier this month, with young rowers from across the country gathering at British Rowing HQ to discuss the future of our sport.

On Saturday 5th April, British Rowing’s Hammersmith HQ welcomed enthusiastic 16-25-year-olds to the forum – an open event to facilitate discussion about how we hope the sport will develop for young rowers.

Annamarie Phelps, British Rowing Chairman, kicked off the forum by giving an insight into where rowing as a sport fits into the global picture, and where our key areas for development and improvement lie.

The discussion that followed was insightful and provided some interesting points for the YPP to focus on in the coming months. Providing new opportunities for university level students to develop other skills such as umpiring, coaching was one of the key points raised, as well as providing advice on how to best to run a university club and how to develop club links and pursue other revenue streams.

If you missed out on the forum but still want to get involved in the YPP, please email [email protected].

The YPP are always looking for new enthusiastic young people and places on the panel are opening up. The YPP would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible.
