Reading rowers plot gruelling 24-hour challenge

Two rowers from Reading RC are planning a 24-hour indoor rowing challenge on Saturday in aid of Sport Relief.

Starting at midday on March 22nd, the duo – Sam Earle and Kirsty Reeman – will take it in turns to row 30-minute stints for 24 hours, on machines set up at Reading RC. “It’s a bit bonkers,” said Sam, “but all good fun for a good cause.”

Sam and Kirsty are hoping to raise £1,000 for this year’s Sport Relief, which raises money for vulnerable people and communities in the UK and abroad. Having only taken up rowing in 2012, neither rower as tried anything like this before, but after hearing about Jo Whiley’s 26 hour treadmill challenge, they thought they’d give it a go.
