Derbyshire School Games

Springwell Community School and Meadows School took the top team honours at the 2014 Derbyshire School Games, winning the Key Stage 3 and KS4 events respectively. Both Schools ended with a impressive leads of at least 200m more than the next placed schools.

No one school dominated in the individual events, which ended with gold medallists from four different schools. In the Girls’ events, Kate Hill (Dronfield) took gold ahead of Polly Henley (John Flamsteed) with 717m in the three minutes of racing. Meanwhile Emily Burton (Meadows) just managed to hold on to win by six meters in the Girls’ five minute event with 1216m.

In the Boys’ events, Will Antcliffe (Springwell) took gold ahead of Lloyd Storm (Anthony Gell) covering 837m in three minutes. In the five minute event, George Thomson (Anthony Gell) took a comfortable win with a 28m lead – posting an impressive score of 1436m.
