South Yorkshire Head Cancelled

The South Yorkshire Head of the River is the latest rowing event to fall foul of the recent weather conditions, with organisers forced to cancel Saturday’s racing.

Sponsored by Sheffield City RC and Doncaster RC, the event was to take place over three divisions, on a 4,000m course along the River Don in Doncaster.

“The committee of the South Yorkshire Head would like to apologise to all entrants and clubs for the issues surrounding this year’s event,” organisers said in a statement. “We have done our best to run the event, and when we had to cancel on the original date we tried to arrange an alternative in the near future. Despite our best efforts we have regrettably reached the conclusion that the event will be cancelled this year.

“All entry fees will be returned and we ask again for your patience while this is arranged. Our event next year will be held on Saturday 7  February, 2015, and, with your help and support, we hope to hold an event which will prove to be as enjoyable as past years.”
