Deloitte raise £10,000 for GB Para-Rowers

Deloitte partners today raised £10,000 for the GB Para-Rowing team after competing in a rowing challenge. Cheered on by trainers and members of the GB squad, 80 partners and members of staff in two teams were challenged to race as far as they could in two and half hours and reached a combined total distance of 150km

The event was held outside the firm’s offices in London and organised by Nick Sandall, lead financial services partner. He captained the financial services practice 40-strong team and challenged partners from other industry groups to take part.

Nick Sandall, lead financial services partner at Deloitte, said:

“This was a fantastic achievement by Deloitte’s partners and staff to support an excellent group of athletes. We can go into the Christmas holidays knowing that we’ve each burned off a few hundred calories and supported a good cause.

“Deloitte is a long-term supporter of disability sport both at grassroots and elite level. The money that we raised will help the GB Para-Rowing team build on the success of London 2012 and send the best prepared athletes to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.”

Tom Dyson, lead coach for the GB Para-rowing team who were World Champions in the mixed coxed four this year, said:

“It’s great to see so many people taking part in this event. The level of effort has been fantastic and it’s wonderful to see a firm like Deloitte supporting us. Their help is crucial to the success of our team.”
