Boat Registration Updates

Canal & River Trust Block Booking Scheme

The Canal & River Trust block booking agreement has now been deferred to April 2015.  Current arrangements will continue until this date for clubs based on waterways managed by the Canal & River Trust.

Changes to EA Boat Registration Fees

The Environment Agency (EA) has announced a 4.8% increase in boat registration fees for 2014, which will be applied to the British Rowing/EA block booking agreement from 1 April 2014.

We have therefore been advised that the fees for the 2014/2015 period will be:

Unpowered Craft

EA based clubs:

• Adult boats £22.50 each (increase of £1)
• Junior boats £7.00 each (increase of 50p)

*Non EA based clubs:

• Adult boats: £13.50 each (increase of 50p)
• Junior boats: £6.00 each (increase of 50p)

(amounts are rounded to the nearest 50p)

Powered craft

• Powered craft (Coaching/Safety Launches): £39 each (increase of £2)

As before powered craft must have insurance in place as required by the EA.

From early January 2014 clubs will be able to renew or apply for new EA Boat Registrations for the 1st April 2014 – 31st March 2015 registration period through Club Management. Temporary Registrations

*Non-EA based clubs may prefer to purchase Temporary Registrations directly from the Environment Agency. A one to six day continuous registration is priced at around £8.50 and can be purchased by phone, by post or from a local lock keeper. Where preferred by the event organisers, some events may purchase visitor registrations en bloc from the EA. If in doubt please check with the event you intend to enter.
