Stirling prepares for University Indoor Rowing Series
Stirling University Boat Club is set to host its first University Indoor Rowing Series event in December – one of four new venues for the third edition of the nationwide tournament supported by BUCS and British Rowing.
Sponsored by ViperApps, the event will see rowers of all abilities from across Scotland compete over 1000m and 2000m – pitting themselves against more than 1600 rowers from 50 different universities.
Stirling’s event represents another step forwards for a rapidly-developing club. The sponsorship funding has enabled it to bring in new coaches and expand its training capabilities – helping the relatively small squad to punch above its weight at national regattas.
“Having the chance to host Scotland’s only indoor rowing competition on December 1st is an honour,” said Stirling’s Gregor Maxwell. “The event will be fully accessible for disabled rowers, and feature races such as a coaches 500m and a coxes 500m race.
“We are exceptionally grateful to British Rowing for giving us the opportunity to host the event sponsored by ViperApps, which will boost the fantastic reputation that we already have as a club even further. We are pleased to welcome the wide range of talents that will be coming from the length and breadth of the country to Stirling University, and we hope you will enjoy the event come December.”
