Gravesend celebrates new boat ‘Equinox’

On Sunday, Gravesend RC named its new junior double ‘Equinox’ – the club’s first new boat in more than five years. It was bought with a small grant from Sport England, which also enabled the club to purchase a new set of quad riggers and four new sets of sculling blades.

One of the oldest rowing clubs on the tidal Thames, the club has a small and enthusiastic coaching team which is currently being supported by a Stewards Charitable Trust coach.

“This boat and equipment will help us deal with the increasing demand for junior rowing,” said Club Captain Alex Wood. “We have seen our junior membership increase from four to 40 over the last 18 months”.
