Record Entry for Exeter Regatta

Exeter Quay is set to welcome a record number of rowers this Saturday (13th July), for the 2013 Exeter Regatta.

The event has received a record entry this year, with more than 150 raced planned along a 400m sprint course.

“This year we have seen a record number of entries to the Regatta, following the huge success rowing had in the 2012 Olympics,” said Regatta Chairman Paul Wilson. “Lots of young people watched the rowing, and have joined a local club to try the sport out.

“The Exeter Regatta is one of the largest rowing events in the South West. Last year, we had problems with the weather, but this year the forecast is looking great for spectators and participants to see 150 races across 50 different sprints.

“We are expecting some close, exciting racing, and this year the most hotly-contested events are due to be the fours and sculls, with a large number of entries for both adults and juniors. Other events include eights, quads, coxed pairs and double sculls.”

Mike Wells, Managing Director of Pathfinder Homes, the main sponsor of the 2013 Exeter Regatta, added: “The Regatta at Exeter Quay is a great day out for the family. Parents and youngsters can be inspired by the action and families can also relax in the cafes and bars. If you are in the area, make sure to come down for a day full of excitement.”
