Oxfordshire School Games

The famous Iffley Road sports center, home of the 4 minute mile hosted the last day of the summer school games event in Oxfordshire. The indoor rowing event, supported by Hinkley Sculling School, was an all-Year 10 event, with 40 competitors from five borough areas battling it out in the summer heat for victory.

David Willcox from Wallingford School set the pace in the first heat, with 1525m (106% GMT), which would give him the clear win for the Boys event more than 70 metres ahead of 2nd placed Tom Placidi from Cheney School. However it was the battle for 3rd that would prove the closest result with Alfie Tolley of Marlbourgh School meeting the 100% GMT target of 1430m , just one meter ahead of Ed Podgorski from Cheney School.

The Girls event was dominated by the girls of Cheney School, with all four locking out the top of the results board. Alice Roberts took top spot, with 1290 meters (101% GMT).
