Dominant victory for future GB stars

GB celebrated one of its biggest GB v France Match victories to date on Sunday, with 11 victories to the French team’s two, and a whitewash in the Junior Women’s races.

Taking place at the London Docklands, the annual contest saw J16 crews racing over 1500m, in 13 categories from single sculls to eights.

Victories in the Men’s Quad and Pair restored some French pride on Bastille Day, but a dominant display from the next generation of GB rowers ensured a dominant victory for the home team.

“Both teams were mature and finely prepared,” said GB Team Manager, CD Riches, “but the British were able to wield their home field advantage to good effect, and amongst the hundreds of cheering parents and supporters moved ahead or moved away from the French crews in the last 500 metres.”
