A new Improvement Fund for sports clubs

Sport England has launched a new fund for medium-sized sports projects, through which £45m of National Lottery funding will be invested over the next four years.

The Improvement Fund will be distributed via five funding rounds: £3m this year, £9m in 2013/14 and £11m in 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17.

Bridging the gap between Sport England’s large-scale (Iconic Facilities) and community level (Inspired Facilities) funding programmes, the Improvement Fund will award grants of between £150,000 and £500,000 to ‘sustainable projects with a clear local need’.

The aim of these grants is to help more people acquire sporting habits for life, by improving the quality and experience of sport.

For more information about the new fund, see the Improvement Fund FAQ or visit the Sport England website.

In order to determine whether your club is eligible to apply for a grant from the Improvement Fund, Sport England has provided an Improvement Fund Checklist – to be completed and returned to [email protected] before any application can be made.
